All Sunray T-shirts are made in Japan. Japanese clothing production is probably the best in the world. They are made on an ancient circular knitting machine. These machines were used before production became much more mechanized, where production volume took precedence over quality. These antique machines can only produce 1 meter per hour (a T-shirt needs about 1.2 meters). The machine inserts cotton into a tube at only 24 revolutions per minute and can produce a T-shirt without side seams. The slow rotational speed causes the cotton to be gently stretched without any form of tension. The absence of tension and side seams results in a garment that can hardly ever lose its shape. The slow knitting and meticulous process of producing a T-shirt means that each Sunray T-shirt takes more than 1.5 hours to make.
